Own a Dachshund long enough, and you start speaking a whole new language. Here's the unofficial Doxie dictionary, with a few real facts mixed in.
Doxie (n.) The universal nickname. Also Dachsie, Weenie, or "the boss of the house."
Sausage dog (n.) What everyone yells when your Dachshund walks by. You've stopped correcting them.
Long boi (n.) A Dachshund, admired from the side.
Teckel / Dackel (n.) What Dachshunds are often called in Germany. Fancy.
Sausage roll (n.) A Dachshund fully burrowed in a blanket, with only the nose sticking out.

Dapple / piebald (n.) Real Dachshund coat patterns. Dapples have lighter swirls of color, while piebalds have bold white patches. Many owners will tell you theirs is the cutest.
Miniature / standard (n.) The two sizes recognized in the US. Miniatures are 11 pounds and under. Both are 100% convinced they're large dogs.
Wiener racing (n.) An actual sport. Dachshund races draw crowds across the country, and yes, some dogs run the wrong way.
Waldi (n.) A striped Dachshund who became the first official Olympic mascot at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich. Doxies have always been stars.
Ramp (n.) The most important piece of furniture in a Doxie home. Protects that long back from all the jumping.
